Foster an Animal

Is Fostering an Animal Right for Your Family?

Fostering an animal is one of the most meaningful ways you can help an animal in need. Faxon regularly needs help from fosters when we have animals in our care that:

  • are too young to be in the shelter

  • have medical needs we are unable to meet due to time constraints

  • are recovering from surgery

  • are struggling with life in the shelter

You Might be Ready to Foster if...

1.You love animals but can't commit long-term. Maybe pet ownership is out of reach for you financially or you travel often. Fostering lets you make a big impact without a lifelong commitment.

2. You have space in your home- and heart. Do you have a spare bedroom or another room for an animal? Even just a cozy corner and a little extra time and attention can mean the world to a shelter animal.

3. You're patient and flexible. Many foster animals are learning to trust people, whether its for the first time or the hundredth. If you're willing to offer gentle guidance and a steady routine, you could be the perfect person to foster.

4. You're ok with goodbyes. Saying goodbye can be bittersweet, but watching your foster find their forever home is incredibly rewarding.

5. You want to help, but aren't sure how. Fostering is a hands-on way to make a real difference, even if only for a few weeks.

What to Expect When You Foster

1.All supplies are provided. We'll set you up with food, bedding, toys, and medical care.

2. Support every step of the way. Our team is here to guide you, answer questions, and cheer you on.

3. A short-term commitment with a lifelong impact. Whether it's a few weeks or a few months, you're helping to save a life!
